Like most moms, I loved the glow I got while pregnant and loved showing off how big my belly was getting. I have a million pictures of my pregnant belly. Let's face it though, once baby comes out and you get the chance to look at yourself in a full length mirror, all of those feelings about your "cute" round belly disappear. Not many women can leave the hospital in their pre pregnancy jeans feeling and looking awesome, yet we all dwell on the pictures we see on social media of the woman who just had twins and is now three days later posting pictures in her work out attire with a flat stomach and abs. |
I know as well as anyone else there are several factors that determine what your body will do after something as tramatic as giving birth. That doesn't stop me from looking in the mirror every day and picking myself apart. Baby is now three months old and I am slowly starting to feel normal again and beginning to feel like I can motivate myself to do small things for me.
These are the things that have made me feel the best:
1.) Get a new cut and color! Go wild! I got magenta streaks in my hair and had about 6 inches cut off. Even if it's just a retouch and trim, there is something about having someone else shampoo and dry your hair. It's magical! It also makes you feel better and love yourself a little more.
2.) Buy a pair of jeans that actually fit you! Who cares that they are 5 sizes bigger than what you normally wear. There is nothing like putting on a cute pair of jeans and doing that little turn in front of the mirror, even when your bottom is much bigger than what you're used to seeing, it still feels nice to be able to wear jeans again, I even found a pair that had hidden panels to lift your butt up!
3.) Buy a new lip stick or gloss. Who has time to do a full face of makeup with a newborn at home? I'm a cosmetologist and have been back in the salon for a few weeks now, I still have only managed to do all of my make up once. Lip color, however is quick and easy and can be applied anytime, anywhere. Sometimes, I don't even leave my house for three days at a time, I still put on my favorite lipgloss, (Nuskin's Contouring Lip gloss). I feel better with plump, shiny, juicy looking lips. Who doesn't?
